I do not believe that. A lot of those Bible stories sound pretty boring even visually.

I could see it just being a guy with a donkey's jaw being way less visually interesting than if he was holding a sword because of course it would be less visually interesting. It's just a weird thing to imagine at a time when people had lamer storytelling so they just accepted it.
