So why don't you burn your workplace to the ground?

Not wanting to be depended on \= to not wanting to do my part. We wouldn't need people to be overworked in an economic system that isn't based on overproducing for prophet.

Lucem, you're right, it's silly to talk about what I would or wouldn't do IRL. Glad you brought it up. Maybe you should write an instrumental about it. I recommend a piano paired with a clarinet. With ambient sounds of you hanging from your shower curtain you ****ing failure.

elph got my meaning pretty well. But here's the thing - leadership isn't really something anybody wants unless there's some kind of merit that accompanies it that's different than what other workers (who don't share that responsibility) have.

In any society that isn't capitalistic, anybody who actually wants to lead is basically a psychopath in the making who would be a threat to the system. It's a grab for social power and benefits that your neighbors, coworkers, etc. don't have.

One issue we have in society (in general) is a lot of people in leadership positions who don't really want to be leaders, but who are also incapable of being good leaders. And you can thank the Peter Principle for that.

Nah there definitely are. It's just that higher ups generally choose people who show that they want leadership because it's easy to give it to people who want to tell other people what to do. At military school I knew a surprising amount of students in leadership positions who just happened to be charismatic, wanted to see a good job done, and just naturally turned to other people to assign tasks, but somehow weren't dicks about it. There were plenty of dicks in leadership positions but non-dicks were not that rare.

The problem is that unlike Anteater says in capitalism the people who actually jockey for leadership positions, the dicks, tend to get noticed faster and tend to go higher.
