I wonder how many unaccounted for homeless people this has killed under the radar.

Imagine if it had originated in America. We probably wouldn’t have even identified the virus.

Probably.

People on facebook are spreading conspiracy theories that hospitals are reporting every death as a covid-19 death.

Or that 99% survival rate means it's not a big deal which is also the survival rate for the Columbine massacre.

Lucem, you're right, it's silly to talk about what I would or wouldn't do IRL. Glad you brought it up. Maybe you should write an instrumental about it. I recommend a piano paired with a clarinet. With ambient sounds of you hanging from your shower curtain you ****ing failure.

We most likely would have stifled reporting of that virus when it did get discovered to avoid public panic so that we could try to solve it behind the scenes, only to publicly come to terms with the situation once the severity has made itself clear.

Not sure where I got that precedent from, it just came to me I guess.

****loads. NYC has been picking up an additional 200 dead bodies a week above average. Some of those are also people who just decided to risk dying at home alone rather than rack up medical death. I’m pretty sure Americans have more medical debt than any other country on earth. Is that more reverse American exceptionalism intellectual equivalent to nationalism or is it just ****ing true?

They took SARS very seriously and learned from it. They also actually educate their citizens.

Both.

The stats Google has for SK shows they peaked a long time ago and are currently at ~10,000 cases and 222 deaths. That doesn't seem bad at all to me.

Italy and Spain have higher death rates than the US by a wide margin if you divide by the population or even by the number of confirmed cases. They definitely are being accused of bungling the response but they also had aging populations hit hard by the virus.

The idea that deaths can happen under the radar is still different from actively manipulating known statistics, which is what people are accusing China of doing. And by a wide margin. Like 2 million+ cases instead of the reported 80,000. But I don't know how true these accusations are. China just lifted the lockdown in Wuhan so perhaps time will tell.

Honestly I think the spotlight COVID has placed Trump under is good for him.

Instead of focusing on his repeated, blatant criminality they can focus instead on his incompetence.
