Good thing we have an alert Commander-in-chief on top of these types of situations and looking out for the safety of the American people.

Former Democratic Sen. Claire McCaskill (Mo.) said on Sunday that Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) has “presided over absolutely destroying Senate norms” amid partisan tensions in the upper chamber.

“I think the Senate was broken, Congress was broken, before impeachment came along,” she said during an appearance on NBC’s “Meet the Press.” “My first year in the Senate, I voted on 306 legislative amendments.”

“This year, there’s fewer than 30,” she continued.

“Mitch McConnell has presided over absolutely destroying Senate norms, from Merrick Garland to killing legislative debate," she said. "The Senate is no longer what it was, and the people of this country are going to have to be the ones politically to put pressure on this dysfunction and say we want unity, we want stuff to get done, we want you to quit the partisan food fight."

Last week, a number of Democratic senators took to social media to share photos of a pile of hundreds of bipartisan House-passed bills that still await action in the Senate.

“This is the pile of House-passed bills, 90% bipartisan, dead on Mitch McConnell’s desk in the Senate #LegislativeGraveyard,” Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.I.) said in a tweet at the time that featured a photo of a stack of papers labelled “Bills stuck in the Senate.”

The stack included several high-profile bills, like the Equality Act, the Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act and the Raise the Wage Act.

The demonstration came as a number of Democratic senators have continued to make jabs at McConnell — who has vowed to be the “Grim Reaper” when it comes to progressive policies in the Senate — over the pace of legislation in the chamber.

Republicans have sought to place blame over the stalled bills on what they call "impeachment obsession” as the House-launched investigation into President Trump has continued to dominate headlines.

“There are things that we have to do that ... we’re not making any progress on because of the impeachment obsession over in the House," McConnell told reporters last month. "I heard a number of Democrats in the House say they can walk and chew gum at the same time. Now is the time to prove it."

However, Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) and other Democrats have pushed back on that notion.

“The idea that the House impeachment inquiry is some sort of distraction from other issues is plain wrong,” he said in November, adding, “We have over 200 House-passed bills we could consider here on the floor, and plenty of bipartisan Senate bills.”

Yang is getting called out for rolling out a health care plan that reinforces the status quo, abolishes the public option, and strengthens our dependence on private insurance and the big pharma. He calls it Medicare for All but in practice it’s the most right wing health care plan of any Democratic candidate. I think he’s surprised at his own staying power and now that he’s catching a whiff of a real (but still small) possibility of winning he’s decided to let the corporate elite know that he’s their strongest Democratic ally.

Why can’t UBI find a genuine messenger?

That's because it's using a politician as its vehicle. He sounds more honest than the other candidates imo, but I still don't trust him.

He also wants the US government to begin an AI cold war with China starting with global AI regulations that, if it goes forward with how he proposed it, would only shoot China in the dick and make it easier for the US to retain dominance. Sounds nice when he's candidly describing it in a more forgiving way than I phrased it, but a lot of his ideas outside of his key issue have tons of repurcussions that he glosses over.

Ensuring schools are 'inclusive' can backfire in the classroom

Quote:
The problem is that this policy framework also applies to students whose disturbed, violent and even psychotic behavior has earned them a diagnosis of EBD. Schools are pressured to keep these students in traditional classrooms and then tie school staff’s hands when it comes to disciplining them. It’s a straightforward recipe for disruptive, if not outright dangerous, classrooms.
The teachers I’m still in touch with say it’s more even more ****ed up now than ever before.

School is not for everybody.

The good thing about this is that it’s part of a movement that is destroying public schools. The bad part is so many people have to suffer. Kids shouldn’t be forced to spend time with other kids they don’t like. It’s fascist as **** and drives people crazy. Teachers need discretion as to who they let stay in their classrooms. If they can’t be trusted with that authority they shouldn’t be around children anyway. I saw it over and over again where kids with weird ****ed up problems terrorized others and made the environment untenable for everyone. It may not be the kids fault but still it’s stupid to let one kid destroy everything for everybody. There’s no pleasant solution. Life is like that.

Quote:
K-12 education policy has not been a mainstay of the 2020 Democratic primary contest, but in the last Democratic presidential debate, Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) touted her “plan” to fully fund the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), an act that stipulates how schools should treat students with disabilities to attempt to ensure that they all receive a “free and appropriate education.”
Hypocritical ****. She wouldn’t expose herself to these psycho kids (that’s why she quit after one year) and she damn sure wouldn’t have let her own kids be subjected to this ****ing torture.

Lol because it worked so well all the other times we used that bill to throw money at a broken justice system.
