there's no real evidence this is actually going to hurt the dems in 2020 afaik.. they are at an inherent disadvantage in 2020 due to facing an incumbent with a decent economy etc.. but I've yet to see any indication impeachment is really gonna hurt them.

The polls on this are split down party lines, and much more in favor of impeaching trump than they were for Clinton or Nixon..

Most likely will die in the Senate but **** it. At least you slap the old dark cloud of impeachment on his legacy and possibly put a few Republican senators who are in purple districts in a tough place when it comes time for their reelection.
