I've just realized how happy I am that Trump got elected in 2016. We'd be missing all of this fun.
If he'd lost he'd still be plastered all over the news all the time and screaming about how he was robbed. Wait, he won and he's doing that anyway. He'd probably have had another stupid reality TV show we'd be subject to. Wait, we kind of have that now. He'd would have let himself go kinda like Ben Stiller in Dodgeball?

Plus let's be real if Hillary got elected nobody would be talking about single payer, free college, UBI, etc
It was her losing to trump that made the Dems second guess the idea of sticking with middle of the road centrists as a safe bet. You have to give people a candidate they can actually get somewhat excited over. |

It's kinda funny actually: without Trump you wouldn't have any support for Sanders and Warren in 2020. If Hillary had been elected they wouldn't even be on the ballot actually. Yang probably never would have tried running either.

yea he talked about it in 2016 and it was seen as a sort of joke by the press
Now, because Hillary lost, there's been a marked shift to the left in the Democratic primaries. They wouldn't seriously entertain ideas like single payer etc. They didn't really take Bernie seriously in 2016. Now they're forced to take him more serious and adapt to his vision of the Democratic party, while also trying to avoid actually nominating Sanders himself. |

Tfw you think a candidate is such a joke that you feel the need to rig the primaries in favour of the centrist candidate.

Cause he was drawing attention away from the anointed one.
Make no doubt about it... He was not going to win the nomination in 2016 regardless of how the DNC treated him. They just saw him as as spoiler candidate who would damage Clinton's momentum. Same reason they hated Jill Stein so much... Not that she had any actual chance at competing. |
