They're milktoast liberals like Obama and Hillary. The youth angle and the fact she's a woman and he's gay are just symbolic "change." Gabbard would be good on foreign policy but that's probably about it.

Tulsi has apologized over and over again for her past homophobic views and says she regrets them and disavows them. I tend to believe her, because she's an ally of the LGBT+ community today and has a perfect record for pro-LGBT+ legislation and has co-sponsored many bills for LGBT+ rights. As of 2011 she voiced support for same-sex marriage and commitment toward repealing the Defense of Marriage Act.

The fact that she ever held that stance as an adult says a lot about her character. Plus, she's a self-described war hawk.
