Rent a motel room somewhere far away and just pack a sports bag and a backpack. Stay until it's cooled down, then go back and see how your home is doing. It will cost a bit of money and be a bit of a hassle, but come on.

It will be like a small adventure!

I feel like just taking the chance is a bad idea.

I'll check that dictionary, but in the meantime I'm impressed - as is everyone else in the world - by your eloquence, obvious accomplishments and success, and the evidence of your blazingly high intelligence.

Chris Cuomo interviewed a woman who's choosing to stay even though she's in the direct path of it. Her logic was she needs to stay because of her business so she can "look after things". Cuomo was pretty much pleading with her to evacuate.

He's got her contact info and is going to keep in touch with her while he's reporting from down there during the storm. Will be interesting to see how this all turns out.

How long until the storm hits?

Seems crazy to me that people wouldn't evacuate. Worst case scenario is you spend some money on petrol and it's a bit inconvenient not being at home for a few days. Worst case scenario if you stay is you lose everything.

Storms are kind of unpredictable too. If forecasts say you're going to be at the rim of the worst bit, you might as well consider yourself in dead center. That's assuming you're the cautious type, of course.

^ Trump has a similar plan, I suspect. He's prob expecting another "incredible unsung success," which is the phrase he knowingly used about a humanitarian disaster with 3 000 American dead.

^ Well, if you're guaranteed safe, a hurricane can be quite exciting, though the power-out, as you mentioned, is pretty tedious. Good luck!

My impression is that worst-case predictions for the Wilmington area include 20-foot waves/storm surge followed by one foot of rain with subsequent river flooding, which will prob be a lot higher than one foot. I would advise against hanging around for that, Tristan. Also, the mayor of Somewhere-Along-The-Coast said that emergency services will be suspended when winds reach 50 m.p.h., which is like a full day before the storm really hits.

I’m cool with big storms but once it gets past a certain point it’s too much. For me at least. Anywhere near the eye in a cat two or higher - **** that

This **** that might just sit at 3-4 down to a 2 for 24 hours straight - and then maybe still keep flooding - no ****ing way

I’m still thinking oh watch this sneaky ****er change course and hit Florida

Either way they’re going to continue just like the wildfires out west

Things are too far gone. Katrina Sandy and now this big bitch - it’s the new normal

I’m mos definitely cool with rich ass shouldn’t be there anyway beach front property getting crushed and hopefully never rebuilt

I just wish I owned a canoe. Then I'd be counting the hours to fun and excitement.
