Spoke to my friend who lives in Wilmington and stayed. Lots of downed trees by him. He's away from the river and on a hill. He's fine. Don't know what downtown looks like.

As far as I can read the various pictures, Wilmington and towns close by are in the "hurricane warning" zone and in the highest end of the scale of "severe" storms. It does not go by the mps scale, so it's severe relative to the general strength of this particular hurricane, I guess. Either way, I wouldn't want to be anywhere around here

I'm honestly disappointed. I love sitting on my porch and watching a hurricane. Luckily there's always another one so fingers crossed.

I think the Weather channel made a nice, graphic explanation for why a storm surge is dangerous. The fish were an excellent touch.

It will be interesting if this is the beginning of category six hurricanes. At least if more powerful hurricanes are in our future due to warmer weather.

Here it is nice and sunny with a slight breeze.
