The southeast Texas coast right now.......

Those poor people. Did ya see the clip where a lady hailed down a CNN crew as they were about the leave the area and asked them to rescue her eldery parents and their dogs? Heartbreaking stuff.

Saw that one too. Being old is bad enough. Being old and confused and/or physically diminished is even worse. Can't imagine what it's like for those folks.

I'm not going to bitch about anything for at least a month.

Drowning in scummy water because of movement being so difficult sounds like one of the worst ways to die. And to top it all off, Helen still has the energy to jabber on about her boring grandkids like we care about them.

Helen?

When I was a kid my mom was head nurse at a Nursing home. It was my first job at 16 and the place where I met Linda at 19. I learned a very valuable life lesson working there for those years:

I will climb into a dumpster and put a bullet in my brain before I ever end up in one of those places. (Linda and I went on to work together in another home for about a year after both leaving the first place.)

Helen is a typical old lady name. I was being jokey about cranky old people.

Yeah, this storm is just bringing so much misery to so many people.

This clip gives some indication of the huge areas of Houston that are under water -cold and filthy water- at the moment.

From CNN:

Harvey continues dumping rain on East Texas and the waters continue to rise. People are starting to panic, rushing rescue boats and even shooting at them if they don't stop, said one volunteer rescuer.

Only in Texas!
I mean, I can understand the terror and panic, and sympathise with it, but ****ing shooting at rescue boats? That's 100% Texas right there.

At least there are less Floridians than Texans. For now.

When desperation sets in with a scenario like this, it doesn't surprise me to see that happening. Texas or not, it would be happening. Along with looting that is going on.

Price gouging is out of control. 99 bucks for a case of water. Look at that lovely free market going to work.
