... the EPA goes far beyond recycling. Like I said earlier there was as time in the US that rivers caught fire cause of the amount of pollution. 10-20 years ago in LA the sky was often brown from smog. Now the air in that region improved significantly based on regulation.

1. In a different time tbh.
2. Not in a way that confronts something which necessitates the long term planning of climate change.

You keep harping on long term planning
It's very simple.. either we will develope the clean energy technology which will transform the globe or we won't Long term planning is not necessary to make this happen As I've stated we have under gone countless technological innovations without long term planning.. every thing from the atom bomb to the modern computer. |

And energy to keep the entire human race going when the entire human race is dependent on short term energy? When that short term energy is literally causing storms to become worse? You just sound like someone who thinks that the world doesn't have cause and effect cause you've lived in a world all this time that hasn't had much cause and effect in your life.

Where are you getting that? We were talking about how useful environmental regulations are and your retort is that we might nuke ourselves to death tomorrow?
I've never been arguing that anything is certain or that we might not make it/suffer a catastrophe that either ends or puts a dent in the prospect of human civilization. Just that your relentless cynicism about anyone who tries to do something they think will help is not nearly as profound as you think. It's simple defeatism. It's a pointless stance to take. You're not uniquely aware of the possibility of failure. You're just crippled by it, where as other people are willing to take a chance. I would rather try and fail then just wait out the clock. |
