I would've thought the anarchist in you would just view a hurricane as a good looting opportunity.

I wanted to clarify that. I don’t want to be ungovernable; I want to be a person that doesn’t need to be governed. And I behave accordingly.

it was just a joke anyway. I never knew blacks to be great swimmers until Katrina hit and I saw people doing the breast stroke with a flat screen strapped to their back.

I don't care about the fossil fuel companies but carbon taxes go far beyond them which is why they hurt the economy.

Basically I mostly see it as a distraction where as the real solution lies in technology that renders the current infrastructure irrelevant.

How much do they reduce them by, really? I don't think they even come close to making a meaningful dent.

today was my first experience of "oh, you didnt bring your own bag?" they stopped doing plastic bags at two local grocery stores i love it

i felt weird because i didnt bring one but they were nice enough to give me one, Big Y is the stores name.

i normally bring my aldi bags to their store since they already on that path since way way back. wish trader joes had more money to open in rural areas like general dollar is. general store realizes that rural commercial land is rare and valuable for a national structure of stores.(in my opinion)

I don't think it takes a carbon tax... If we just properly funded either NASA or the DOD and put them to it they could figure it out

Honestly my main beef is carbon taxes aren't a real solution yet they're the go to talking point for Democrats. I don't see them as the end of the world, just unnecessary and possibly politically counter productive.

I don't disagree I just think it would face a lot less political opposition without the carbon tax and at this point we have debated it long enough and need to move towards a real long term solution.

every product you buy has a huge trail of plastic - the original packaging for pre-value added ingredients or materials- packing for shipping - repackaging after the product is made - packaging again for shipment

the store patting themselves on the back for inconveniencing you and saving money under the wildly false pretense of reducing waste is complete bull****

This is obviously just speculation but fossil fuels are so effective and cheap I believe every last ounce of it will be mined and burned even at the cost of the annihilation of our species. Our ancestors don’t even exist. Ultimately, we’re not going to be inconvenienced in the present for a future that is not ours. Even if we discover better alternative energy sources (and I don’t think we will) we’ll still use whatever we invent in tandem with fossil fuels. No law, no treaty, no nothing is going to stop it.
