I guess my main argument against it would be whether or not stand up comedy is art, and if not, then where does that leave memes, since they are clearly intended mostly as comedic works.

Stand up comedy is as much of an art as a funny TV show or a movie. When the person in charge of it can provide entertainment through the use of creativity, it becomes an art. Albeit a different form of it.

Saw a meme just a few minutes ago. It instantly evokes a complex emotional response - one of laughter, surprise, discomfort, empathy, and consideration for a serious global issue of poverty. I think memes are wonderfully effective this way.

It's really strange that even something like that can give an effect so deep that it can actually create multiple emotions at once. and the funny thing is, the added swear word helps. And the specific word they chose also helps.
