Implying that not being British equates to not speaking (or refusing to speak!) English and that being British would deter people from reading the Quran to people in Arabic (oh the horror!) sounds like pretty plain racism to me.

So you are genuinely saying that Saira Khan is racist for wanting more British born imams in UK mosques?

And for thinking that they're somehow superior in the first place, yes.

Actually the second bit is about an Arabic-reading imam who wouldn't want to translate the Quran to English for a student because it's forbidden.

And it's racist to assume that all non-British imams will abide by that (widely contested) fatwa.

I get how it's prejudiced but how is it racist? Is the guy talking about white British imams being the preferred alternative? Sounds more like nationalism to me.

Nationalism/xenophobia and racism are twins. This instance seems pretty pointed at Arabs so ja I'm gonna go with racist as my final answer.

Because apparently the existential threat to society rests on whether or not the Quran is taught in Arabic instead of English. Which countries speak Arabic?

They're pretty common but they really pale in comparison to the amount of whiny victimization as a whole that we see out there.

Why do people just debate about terrorism in this thread? There's also forced marriages, honour killings, discrimination and violence against Christians, Jews and apostates, parallel societies...
