It isn't that bad, but all of that is delusional. I don't see why that is loaded, most people are delusional in some way, probably everyone

maybe it's only loaded because you assume I'm saying delusion is an inherently negative thing. I think love usually makes people somewhat deluded for example. That's not necessarily all bad in every circumstance.

I already said religion can be positive for some people. That's not even my initial point. It's that whether secular religious people think they have a more watered down version of the faith or not, they do.

That's what secular basically means in this context. It's been influenced by pressures in society outside of the religion in areas where the modern culture deviates from the traditional religious values. It's a compromise.

This is ultimately what fundamentalists see clearly and have a problem with. This is in fact why fundamentalism arises in the modern context.

As for you know smart religious people... I know smart people who are borderline schizo or believe in NWO conspiracy theories. Join the club.

Unless you're going full gay this is dangerously close to having something good to say about women.

yeah, I have good things to say about women

They just tend to get overshadowed by the bad things I have to say

Bill Belichick Calls For U.S. To Take Action Against Turkey, Azerbaijan For ‘Unprovoked And Deadly Attacks On Armenians’

Belichick strongly identifies as Croatian-American.

So does Nick Saban and Pete Carroll.

Belichick’s interest in this seems like it has something to do with an anti-Muslim sentiment leftover from the Bosnian War.

adidasss 11-18-2020 06:36 PM

Probably has nothing to do with his Croatian heritage (I doubt a 3rd or 4rth generation Croatian-American has very strong feelings about Croatia, let alone a war in a different country) and more to do with this:

Quote:

Belichick has spoken out in this particular area before, in a video for director of football/head coach administration Berj Najarian’s Instagram page.
Najarian=Armenian.

He’s actually all about it whether you doubt it or not and whether you’re from the region or not doesn’t change the fact the Bosnian war was the pinnacle of the violence in that series of wars and in general the Croatians hated the Bosnian Muslims.

adidasss 11-18-2020 07:02 PM

Actually they didn't, the conflict between Croats and Bosniaks was limited to Herzegovina and only because in the general craziness of the war, some bat**** Herzegovina Croatians decided they wanted to secede from Bosnia and join Croatia (fomented by the then leadership of Croatia). In other parts of Bosnia, Croatians and Bosniaks were fighting together against the Serbs.

There is also zero animosity between Croatians (from Croatia) and Bosniaks today. We love Bosniaks and they love us back. In fact, I would say that among all of the ex-Yugoslav ethnicities, the Croats and the Bosniaks have the best relationship.

This cannot be said for the relationship between Serbians and Croatians (both Christians).

Stop trying to find a basis for your islamophobia dude.

The Batlord 11-18-2020 07:11 PM

Not that I'm taking anyone's side but it's kind of true that Americans, who have no real culture of our own, sometimes latch onto our ancestor's culture for no logical reason. I seem to remember the IRA hitting up people from Boston (the Irish-American "capital") for money.

adidasss 11-18-2020 07:21 PM

^^ That may be true, but even if it was in this case, there is no part of Croatian culture that is Islamophobic. We don't have a history of it (like we do with hating on Serbs). What happened in Bosnia was a one off occurrence so it doesn't make any sense it would trickle down to 3rd generation Croatians on other continents.

I’m explaining his. He doesn’t give af about Armenians. He just doesn’t like Turks. Or any other group of Muslims. I don’t base my politics around a football coach and I don’t need any further reasons to hate Islam.

And whatever is happening now wasn’t happening then.

Really, is that what he said? Because it's not what I've read.

If so, he's just another prejudiced asshole, Croatian or not. :/
