Just because the monster in the alley makes you piss your pants doesn't mean that it's actually there. Multiculturalism might have some flaws, much like any other thing that exists or has existed in our known history, but the alternatives are often more dangerous than accepting people as they are. I do agree that some degree of assimilation should be required, like following the laws that were put in place to prevent our culture from becoming literally dangerous. There are other forms of assimilation that should be encouraged but not mandatory, like learning the language of the country (only gonna help) and community activism.
I agree with pgb, this whole thing just sounds like insecurity and fear of change.
