Seems from the news reports that it was a homemade thing, someone who (thankfully) knew about as much about making bombs as I do about quantum mechanics, and most of the injuries (none dead) were from flash burns. Scary stuff, no doubt, but at least this person didn't apparently have any help or advice from people who could have made them ensure this was a much deadlier attack.

Also, the location makes me believe it was some local knob, just either pissed off or fancying him or herself a jihadist while also not having the slightest clue what that really means. After all, it's hardly the throbbing heart of England, is it, Parsons Green? Well, now I look, central enough I guess...

Yeah but it's not the first attack in the UK even this year, so what's he telling us about? Also, bad form. Just because he's way over there in Japan don't mean he can laugh at potential casualties over here. Aren't we all concerned about the missiles flying his way? Do we say "told you you shouldn't have gone to Japan"? Dick move. Dick move of the dickest order, if that's what he means. Disappointed.

Cause for Mord to exult again, no doubt. You near there, Monkey? What's the atmosphere like? I don't envy you. Stay safe.

Na, about 120 miles.

I was talking to my dad about the current trend of attacks in Europe and the UK though and we both agreed we are shocked nothing has happened here (Brum) yet. Traced back to the same four or five wards a lot.

They tried it in France didn't they? Stade De France, the guys got caught on entry and detonated at the turnstiles.

I remember football matches being talked about as targets as far back as the Japan & South Korea World Cup (2002). The paper I was reading even had an illustration in of Beckham and Owen being held by pitch invaders with grenades in their hands ffs.

But yes, surely only a matter of time. And something I have thought about inside the stadiums (if something happened now, where would I run/how would I get out?)

London Tube attack: Arrest made as terror threat raised - CNN
  • UK terror threat level has been raised from "severe" to "critical," meaning an attack is expected imminently.
  • Three of at least 30 people injured remained in a London hospital Saturday.
  • ISIS said via its Amaq news agency that a "detachment" from the group had carried out the attack, but it gave no proof.
  • Detectives have spoken with at least 45 witnesses and received scores of images from the public.
  • More police were on patrol this weekend, in particular around "crowded places, iconic sites, transport hubs and ports," a police statement said.
