This is the first time I'll have to disagree with you in this thread. As I see it, there goes a theoretical straight line from Marx/Engels to Lenin regarding the dictatorship of the proletariat. Trotsky and Lenin were pretty much in agreement here. Have you read The State and Revolution?

Marx wrote the communist manifesto. His ideals lead to communist governments which have killed around 100 million people. Obviously I am a personal responsibility advocate, and my comment wasn't literal (that Marx himself killed them all) but his theories have resulted in incalculable amounts of death.
