That's pretty condescending... Not that I agree with Goofle, but the role of government is subjective. If it isn't please explain to me how you objectively explain its' role when even the two biggest parties representing it do not share all the same views.

Edit: Maybe I'm reading too much into your post. It seems like you're saying people like Goofle have the wrong view of government and there is an absolute role.

I guess what I'm getting at is: there are different ways to provide welfare, and on that long list, art is not near the top or nearly as objectively important as something like healthcare. I think you guys have gotten so used to pissing on Goofle that anything he says gets your panties in a bunch.

Edit: I'm not agreeing with him that we shouldn't fund it, I'm just saying if we needed funding, I think it's reasonable that it's the first thing to go. We don't have an unlimited supply of money, so if he thinks there are more important things that contribute to welfare that push arts off the list, I don't think that's unreasonable.

But it still belongs on the list. Did your High School have a liberal arts program? Did it have a HS band? An art class? An acting or dramatic arts class?

Did you take part in any of it? Either way, imagine you got a kid who's about to enter High School and word comes down that they are eliminating all liberal arts programs. Wouldn't that bug you?

Goofle has been coming across these past few months as a totally self centered person who doesn't give a crap about anyone who doesn't fit into his narrow view of the world. Translation: DICK.
