Firstly, it's usually the bottom of the barrel republicans/conservatives who resort to using liberal, or more often than not, LIBTARD as a retort and/or insult.

Secondly, if I'm having a debate or discussion with someone from that side and they decide to phrase a comeback along the lines of "Well, what do you expect. You're a libtard", then yes, at that point they are a moron in my eyes.

It's only a small segment of folks that will pull that insult out and I find they are the same ones that fall into similar camps like:

Pro-choice = BABY KILLER!!!
Separation of church and state = HEATHEN!!!
Regulate Wall Street and Big Banks = SOCIALIST!!!
Less fortunate people need some Federal assistance = BLEEDING HEART!!!
Certain weapons need to be regulated = ANTI-AMERICAN!!!
Not all liberal ideals are bad ideology = LIBTARD!!!
