Not that I would know, but surely saying "McCarthy was right, what's the problem" is tantamount to admitting Hitler had a point about the Jews?

Even here in backward old Ireland we were taught McCarthy was a witch hunter, a racist, a bigot and a number one nutjob, no?

The point was that some things are set in stone. Hitler was evil. Batty can laugh and joke about it all he wants, but nobody in their right mind thinks otherwise. McCarthy may not have been evil, but he was a **** and he railroaded and blacklisted people based on their political beliefs and affiliations, which is never right. Haven't you even seen The Front?

I just don't understand how you can stand up for McCarthy. It staggers me. And I'm not even American.
