The point was that some things are set in stone. Hitler was evil. Batty can laugh and joke about it all he wants, but nobody in their right mind thinks otherwise. McCarthy may not have been evil, but he was a **** and he railroaded and blacklisted people based on their political beliefs and affiliations, which is never right. Haven't you even seen The Front?

I just don't understand how you can stand up for McCarthy. It staggers me. And I'm not even American.

I'm happy to condemn all of the mass murdering government tyrants. Bad people. Obviously Stalin and Mao were worse, but Hitler was still a 1/10 at best.

I personally have no problem with a "classical" liberal school of thought. Maybe not universal healthcare necessarily (it takes months to see a specialist in Canada), but in regards to taxation, social issues in general, etc...we should want to fight for those things. However, the problem is that liberals here in the U.S. (and in some places abroad) don't want to deal with the hard truths of radical Islam and it's roots. They advocate for head-scratching border policies and notoriously convoluted tax legislature. They also tend to be more concerned with identity politics at the expense of everything else...all of which came back to bite them in the ass this election cycle.

Hopefully Trump will be a good wake up call (regardless of his successes or failures) so that someday that Democratic Party (or some comparable candidate, like a reasonable Libertarian) will eventually take office and make decisions that actually help the middle class and take logical positions on issues like race, rather than demonizing the "white man" (Obama) or "anyone who isn't white" (Trump)

How has he been proven right? And even if he was, does that excuse his execrable behaviour at the time? The end does not justify the means, you know. A lot of good people got blacklisted and couldn't work just because they had either communist leanings or had some association with the Party. They weren't all planning to bring down the USA. Honestly, your attitude makes me feel physically sick. Going back to Hitler, if somehow we were now being ruled by a Jewish oligarchy or whatever, would you excuse his actions on the basis that he was "right"? Or if America decided to take over the world, would Bin Laden and KSM have been right?

I have free healthcare cause I'm poor, and besides the difficulty I sometimes have finding doctors that accept my insurance this is definitely NOT the case.

This isn't true. Bernie's presence was big on social media and online but when it actually came to showing up during the primaries to support him. They didn't turn out as much as people were making it seem like they would.

Yeah, my experience with free healthcare when I was younger was that specialists weren't that bad with wait time but seeing a primary took a couple of weeks. Now the VA treats me well and my wait time to see either is pretty short.
