Very possible. Though the Dems should be celebrating since they were calling for Comey to be fired last year anyway. He was a useful idiot for Trump until he no longer was. Plus as I mentioned, he's not being completely forthcoming on Fusion GPS or their ties to Russia. So there's several different narrative threads that need to be resolved. Heads on both sides of the ideological aisle will be rolling very soon. And Trump's may very well be among them.

At least you're seeing it for what it is. I don't like Comey. I just don't like Nixon-esque bullsh*t that Trump is pulling even more.

1. Damn, Comey is one huge dude. Would be cool if he and Trump could bump into each other mano y mano in a parking lot someday.

2. We have to build a wall to keep America safe. Oh, and by the way, let's fire the director of the FBI with no notice, and no successor lined up.

:D

Oh ****, I'm gonna give Donald a call. Get my name in the hat. I'm down to be a sellout like that. These student loans are ****ing me up and I took a criminal justice course once.

Knowing nothing really about American politics I want to ask a serious question: has, in the history of the presidency, any incoming president fired so many of his appointees (or had them resign) before? It seems a little like Night of the Long Knives or that time when Saddam Hussein seized power in Iraq!

The head of the FBI in particular was only fired one other time while Clinton was president. And then he was only fired because everyone was insisting he resign but he refused.

This is Trump's Saturday Night Massacre. He's flailing. One thing he clearly didn't think of - the FBI is incredibly loyal to Comey. And that's on top of the subpoenas that were issued for Flynn hours before he fired Comey.

This is a moment that will be in the history books. From here, we go one of two ways. One, republicans finally realize they need to get off the Trump train and there is bipartisan support for an independent investigation. Or, they continue to bury their heads in the sand, Trump realizes he truly can get away with anything he wants, and then it's officially Trumpland.

And you see no difference between tweets from other Presidents and Trump?

Trumpland is fast approaching.

Yes, even tho Nixon never fired his FBI director (even Nixon),
the firing of Archibald Cox (the special prosecutor)
involved the resignation of Bill Ruckelshaus and Elliot Richardson
stemming from what has been termed the Saturday Night Massacre.
This is why you are starting to see "Nixonian" used in descriptions.

(oh, I see Duga has mentioned some of this...)
