Thankfully this was stopped due to public outcry. My initial thoughts were "I guess that's what I should be expecting for the next 4 years, guess I should just get used to everyone letting this happen as if there's no way to change it". I'm very pleased there is still public outcry and that can still affect what is happening. It's a small glimmer of hope. I really thought republicans would start doing whatever they wanted, given that there has been this attitude of "we don't really want this stuff to happen, but it is, so oh well". Compare this to bipartisan outrage at things like the Watergate scandal - our blase reaction and inept path forward to recent issues (ie Russia cyberwarfare) that have arguably been worse than Watergate has been really disheartening. Clearly, Republicans are testing the waters of what they can get away with - we will lose a lot, but at least people are still paying attention.

I'm not so sure about that. Of course a large portion of the 50% who live off of the other 50% are almost guaranteed to vote for immoral leftist policies.

And if anyone has had a branding issue (until Trump) it's been Republicans. Dems have always painted themselves as the party of the people, a kind of Robin' Hood.
