Does it really matter? I can guarantee that every source you trust has retroactively changed their articles in light of new information and contexts. It's the nature of modern journalism.

But you brought up that Snopes article when it had nothing to do with my original post, which is about them changing the headline WEEKS after it was originally posted. The content of that original NYT article is not relevant to my original post. Again, you deliberately miss the point in order to pivot to something I didn't talk about at all.

In this case I think the timing is suspicious. They change headlines on Cracked articles and stuff on HuffPost all the time, but I have no idea if that's the norm or not for major publications.

And yes it is exceedingly common. That's one of the benefits of online journalism: you can change your information when new things come to light. Would you rather they clung to wrong ideas instead of change them?
