That last paragraph reminded me of this

"Be a man and push it down. Push it down, deny your feelings, pretend you have answers. Do some man shit right now."

This. It was a perfect storm for him. Despite Hillary's unpopularity, she still could have won if she wasn't so concerned with her own agenda. Every step of the way left me thinking "this could be SO EASY...WHY ARE YOU ****ING IT UP???". The entire country (left and right) has been done with this centrist crap for a while. Yet time after time...talk after talk...she kept pushing her faux-progressive wall street-supporting bull****. The right wants the good ol days and the left wants freaking PROGRESS. Same old same old was NOT going to work this election. And she lost. Any other democratic candidate would have won...not to mention Bernie. I voted for Hillary because same ol' centrism is better than the **** storm that is being kicked up now. But it wasn't a vote I was thrilled about. As a very liberal person, if I felt that way, I was sure millions of others did as well. And they probably didn't have a polling station right down the block to go to.

Would be so funny if it wasn't a real possibility.

Been mulling over this for the past few days. I'm pretty much convinced that the GOP blowing up the ethics committee via a vote was a setup by top level Trump cabinet members. Think about it.

What is the most absurd and outrageous thing the GOP could have proposed just prior to Trump's inauguration? So for 24 hours after the initial announcement of the proposed gut to the ethics committee most of the country and 75% of congress are screaming bloody murder over the possibility of it passing.

*BAM* Trump rides in on his white horse and saves the day. I wouldn't put it passed Reince Priebus to orchestrate something like this. If so, Karl Rove would be so proud.

The Batlord 01-05-2017 04:23 PM

So Congress is going to do something orchestrated specifically to make them look bad? Dude, you're ridiculous.

Frownland 01-05-2017 04:25 PM

No, you're a moron. People who could be voted out of office are not going to put their jobs on the line for anyone, let alone a president no one likes. You are officially a ****ing conspiracy theorist and have no credibility whatsoever. Turn off the TV, stop reading politics on whatever blogs you're wasting your time on, and regain some semblance of logic and rational thought. You are just bitter at this point. I am legitimately flabbergasted that someone not watching Fox News could come up with something so stupid.

The liberal conspiracy theories are probably going to be my favourite part of Trump's presidency (not just from Chula btw).

Nice rant. Those people are secure in their jobs for at least the next 2 years. Do you realize how short memories are when it comes to politics? Do you honestly believe that any voters are going to remember those 24 hours two ****ing years from now? Do me a favor and shut your snark and sarcasm meters off for 5 minutes and think about the possibility. REALLY think about it using everything we've witnessed in politics the past couple of decades.

Of course I have no evidence. Pretty much stated that in my first post on the subject. It's an opinion based on my own personal musings. But again, think about it. Trump had been catching a lot of flack, even among some of his base and even GOP politicians over a number of his cabinet appointees the past month. His whole "draining the swamp" catch phrase was beginning to become a running joke just recently.

And then, over the course of just a 24 hour period, *poof* he's the renegade again.

Laugh all you want but it's certainly not out of the question. Again, based on the **** that has actually happened during the last few campaign cycles. Again, if true, Rove would be dancing the jig.

Quote:

In 1970, College Republican Rove stole letterhead from the Illinois Democratic campaign of Alan Dixon, and used it to invite hundreds of people to Dixon's new headquarters opening, promising "free beer, free food, girls and a good time for nothing," disrupting the event.

In 1973, Rove ran for chairman of the College Republicans. He challenged the front-runner's delegates, throwing the national convention into disarray, after which both he and his opponent, Robert Edgeworth, claimed victory. The dispute was resolved when Rove was selected through the direct order of the chairman of the Republican National Committee, who at the time was none other than George H.W. Bush.

In 1986, while working for Texas Republican gubernatorial hopeful William Clements, Rove claimed that his personal office had been bugged, most likely by the campaign of incumbent Democratic Gov. Mark White. Nothing was proved, but the negative press, weeks before the election, helped Rove's man win a narrow victory. FBI agent Greg Rampton removed the bug, disrupting any attempt to properly investigate who planted it.

When Rove advised on George W. Bush's 1994 race for governor of Texas against Democratic incumbent Ann Richards, a persistent whisper campaign in conservative East Texas wrongly suggested that Richards was a lesbian. According to Texas journalist Lou Dubose: "No one ever traced the character assassination to Rove. Yet no one doubts that Rove was behind it. It's a process on which he holds a patent. Identify your opponent's strength, and attack it so relentlessly that it becomes a liability. Richards was admired because she promised and delivered a 'government that looked more like the people of the state.' That included the appointment of blacks, Hispanics and gays and lesbians. Rove made that asset a liability."

After John McCain thumped George W. Bush in the 2000 New Hampshire primary, with 48 percent of the vote to Bush's 30 percent, a massive smear campaign was launched in South Carolina, a key battleground. TV attack ads from third groups and anonymous fliers circulated, variously suggesting that McCain's experience as a prisoner of war in Vietnam left him mentally scarred with an uncontrollable temper, that his wife, Cindy, abused drugs and that he had an African-American "love child." In fact, the McCains adopted their daughter Bridget from a Bangladesh orphanage run by Mother Teresa.

According to the investigation of Special Prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald, Rove played a central role in the outing of undercover CIA operative Valerie Plame to columnist Robert Novak and former Time magazine reporter Matthew Cooper, in retaliation for her husband Joe Wilson's accusation that the Bush administration falsely claimed that Saddam Hussein sought uranium in Niger.
Rove has ignored subpoenas to testify before Congress regarding the Justice Department scandal of the firing of nine U.S. attorneys. He skipped a hearing on improper use of RNC e-mail accounts by White House staff, which allowed them to skirt the Presidential Records Act. Rove claims he enjoys executive privilege, which travels with him as he leaves the White House.

Frownland 01-05-2017 05:41 PM

I don't follow. Is Rove in Trump's cabinet?

The Batlord 01-05-2017 05:42 PM

Okay... so... if Republican Congressmen are willing to do this because no one will remember it in two years, why are they willing to do this for the president when no one will remember it in two years?

Just matching what I'm responding to I guess. You're using the same kind of logic that people do when they say that Operation Northwoods is evidence of an entirely unrelated event that bitter people think is a false flag event like Sandy Hook or 9/11.

*points*

You are a ridiculous conspiracy theorist now, Harry.

It's not easy for people to follow along with the logic of delusional people. You're going to have to be pretty explicit.

Don't be obtuse on purpose.

Rove is just the poster child. Crap like that happens every election cycle.

I still fail to see why, by your logic, the long term effects that wouldn't happen to congress would happen to the president. Or are there no long term effects on either of them? In which case what is the point?

See, this is what I was saying all those months ago when I said you weren't smart enough to be in these conversations. You're one of those people on the plane in your little cartoon.
