Republicans won the house and senate too.

I wasn't too worried about Trump but we're absolutely ****ed now that we have a goddamned trio on our hands.

We all thought this was the end of the Republican party, but really it was the end of the Democrats. Democrats control nothing but municipal bull****. And this isn't just the right that controls the house and senate - it's Trump's right.

I shutter to think what's coming down the pike. The world is overdue for a giant ****storm.

I don't think so. It's almost guaranteed that a Democrat will win in four years.

4 years is not a short amount of time and Democrats have a lot of reckoning to do. Hillary and the DNC shot themselves in the foot so many times. There was no need for the DNC to mess with the primaries to block Bernie. If the data is to be believed, she would have received the nomination anyway - but everyone got stuck with the feeling that someone they didn't even want got the nomination. Hillary had both a moral and professional edge on Trump, there was no need for her to constantly lie and do things she had to know would seem shady.

If we had a Democrat majority, I would say the Republicans have a chance to recover since the Dems always seem to want to welcome this problem child back into the fold. Republicans are going to take this majority and not just run with it...they are also going to chop of the legs of the Dems and piss on them as they run by. Maybe the Dems will survive the onslaught, but I'm really not hopeful.

Valid points, I guess it'll come down to what Trump's ratings are like to be absolutely sure, but I still think it'll swing that way.

One positive I can see coming from this is the scaling back of the executive branch's powers. Bush and Obama really amplified the pull that the president has, and we shouldn't try to be a monarchy.

I agree, but it was a result of the incredibly obstructionist attitude the right took towards Obama. His strategy seemed to play out ok for a while, but now I fear what he's opened the door to.

I hope you are right, though. But I've gone from wary optimism to straight up cynicism. The world is ****ed. If it's not, it will be a pleasant surprise.

What do you mean by that? What do you think Trump's right is?

Trump's right imo is pretty damn moderate and middle of the road and that's another reason why the Republican party denounced him along with all of his outbursts.

He doesn't even end up agreeing with his VP. His VP is traditional establishment Republican but Trump isn't.

You think the Brietbart crowd is moderate?

So Trump's right is the Alt-right?

Based off of things that I've heard him say in some of the debates and his speeches. He seems to have a moderate position when it comes to some social issues.

Saying that women who have abortions need to be punished is not a moderate view on social issues.
