Right, and as I said, the consequences on the other side are more serious than listening to your kid and hearing them out. It's not as if you go down to the hormone shop that day and get some injections just because the kids brings it up. It can take months to years for hormone therapy to start... because therapists have a serious obligation to make sure it's the right thing to do.

And for months to years people can hide the truth from someone without that individual knowing.

Fwiw, I can tell the difference between when my 6yo is being rebellious and when she has a serious conflict in her head. It's in her face and long term behavior. She's not going to lay in bed for 6 hours pretending she's sick, she doesn't have that kind of patience. When she lays in bed for 6 hours, I know she's not rebelling. When she has a stomach ache and I can see the pain on her face, I know she has a legitimate complaint, etc, etc.
