It has nothing to do with it being weird to me. And i am aware of trans identity. And my point has nothing to do with any of that. My point is a child is to young and stupid to make an intelligent decision on what could end up being, or is, the biggest decision of their life.

For clarity, I asked if you were aware of the biology.

I agree with this.

So you understand why hormone therapy is so helpful if it's done before puberty? A half finished genetic expression routine has some conflicting attributes to it. Cis males and females have some different signaling pathways at work in their bodies from each other - you can't just mix and match them without consequences, but nature's not perfect, and nature doesn't care about human suffering. So we have medicine.

Also, ideally, the child is making the decision with the help and support of their parents and a counselor that specializes in determining if it's in the child's best interest or not. If they don't have support from their family, they often try to get the hormones on their own as a teenager.

But then it becomes a rebellious choice and when you're a child, most things are rebellious choices that you end up.regretting later in life.

All circling right back to my original example of the tattoos and stuff. Age restrictions aren't their in our society so adults can hang it over a kids head and laugh. They are there to protect the child.

A handful of people do stupid rebellious things, not everyone. There's an issue here, because if you're wrong and your kids not rebelling, you're looking at high suicide rates. You probably can't imagine the suffering involved, especially when people are telling you "you'll grow out of it, you're just being a stupid idiot kid"

Thankfully, he authorities on this are WPATH, not music banter philosophy forums.

Precisely. And I don't mean this to be offensive to anyone, but since being trans or whatever is currently the "thing to do", kids are more apt to jump on it without knowing the full length of the repurcussions that it can have on their future. It's the same as if a kid saw their dad smoking cigarettes and the kid wants to jump on it, without knowing the bad habit it can turn into, and the repurcussions on the body.

Then that is the fault of the parents and the counselor for not giving the proper guidance that a big life changing decision takes. I'm trying not to disagree with either sides here because there are good points, but when it becomes an issue of a life changing process, there needs to be an age bracket for when the decision can be made. Hell, most people don't figure out their gay until their later teens.
