There was a study done on immigrants in Germany about attitudes towards violence, homosexuality, women and so on.
It compared immigrants from the same countries, Muslims and Christians. Guess what the result was? Yep, Muslims were way worse across the board.
(Sorry I'm not linking it, since I can't find it and it was in German anyway.)

No, its not the only problem they suffer, but it has a lot to do with it.

If some secular government were to take over, I imagine the result would be similar to what we saw in the US when slavery was ended. It takes time for people to adjust.
