It can be both. Also "root" is a big word. The world is complicated and intertwined in complex ways. It's dumb to say that capitalism or religion or conservatism or whatever is the root of all problems. You can still oppose all that **** in principle while acknowledging that many factors are always involved.

I get that if you’re a hetero white male in America poverty is basically the only way you can be oppressed and that will color my lenses as it will but goddamn if it doesn’t seem like capitalism IS the cause of every ****ing problem.

If there’s any exception in my mind it’s the subhumanization of children.

Everything about Bernie’s platform would’ve benefited blacks 100 times more than Bidenism. Blacks voting against their own self-interest to get Obama’s VP was race reductionism. It’s the same way with LBJ. They all love him for the civil rights act while his actions in Vietnam was the heaviest expression of white supremacy in modern American history.

anyhow bigotry is def not unique to religion, nor do I think religion is even the cause

You might want to read up on India’s caste system.

What anti-religion rhetoric is the left engaging in? (Besides the occasional anti-Jewish rhetoric which is actually generally just anti-Zionism)

(and this thread is slowly becoming just another generic politics thread)

Nobody said they don’t.

I don’t think it would’ve been nearly so entrenched or brutal without religious justification. I’m also pretty sure you don’t know anything about it, no offense.

Religion has been an oppressive force for thousands of years and continues to be one to this day.
