Exactly. But the born again Christian just wants to focus on the "other" guys.

Some consider stringed instruments to be haram and do a capella chants instead since those can focus the mind on god. From what I've seen, the most mainstream view among Muslims is that music is haram when it's paired with provocative dancing and **** like that, but most other times it's halal.
frownland, this is very accurate!! religious muslims mostly believe that music is haram if the language is blasphemous. but many scholars also believe it distracts you from the important things... god, prayers, etc. thats why they don't like it.

however... it is different from person to person. for example, my father is practicing muslim. never misses a single prayer. he still loves music and spends hours everyday listening to fairouz and mohammed abdul wahhab on vinyl. he doesn't think music is evil. most muslims listen to music. only super orthodox ones don't.

what annoys me about this orlando thing is everyone keeps labelling it as 'islamic terrorism'... why? because the shooter is muslim. now every time there is a christian shooter... why isn't it called christian terrorism? how come? the father of the shooter made it VERY clear that his son HATES gay people. this was done out of his homophobia. and nobody has even MENTIONED this...

For example, while McVeigh was not religious, he was raised Catholic. They called that domestic terrorism. It was political/ideological, and not based on religion. This shooting appears to be ideological, so it's terrorism.

I assume it's being labelled as Islamic terrorism because the perpetrator pledged allegiance to ISIS in the 911 call.
