And those who leave home aren't necessarily grown up. Just because one has the body of an adult doesn't mean one's mind is mature, too. I know plenty of so-called adults who are mentally, socially, and spiritually still children.

Yeah, no, you just completely missed the point. No matter how many wishy washy metaphors for freedom you wanna throw around, you are always a slave to God in Christianity. You don't get to run your opinions by God on how the Bible should be rewritten. You don't get to make up your own rules about how you should be able to live while still going to Heaven. You don't even get to frivolously say his name out loud.
If you were free, you wouldn't be bound by his laws. They would simply be suggestions which, when violated, would not send you to hell.
