Default Political parties

With what political party do you sympathize? How is politics in your countries?

Here in Italy there are many political parties: Movimento 5 Stelle (5 Stars Movement), Partito Democratico (Democratic Party), Fratelli d'Italia (Brothers of Italy), Lega Nord (Northern League) and others. I prefer the Movimento 5 Stelle, for now it is the more honest party. Our president Renzi is driving Italy to ruin...he has a lot of opposers, we hope to send him home with the next october's Referendum.
What do you think about politics in your countries?

politics are complicated here in lebanon. we haven't been able to pick a president since 2014 and the next elections will be held in 2017. so right now we don't even have a president. i don't really care because with or without a president, not much changes anyway.

Our president took power without being elected by the people, and that is, in theory, illegal here considering that Italy is a democratic republic. But the government is doing whatever it wants, information is censored, there is no work for young people and corruption is spreading everywhere.

I suppose they are a necessary evil. I don't like them in that they help propagate political ideologies though. (I am a self identified conservative, liberal ect)

I think that every policy issue, should be approached by reason backed by statistical facts, and not determined by one's own ideological sentiment.

Unfortunately (perhaps as a result of the rise of secularism) people seem to becoming more and more religiously feverous in their political beliefs, making them completely intolerant of another person's opposing view.

This use to be confined to just the religious right and authoritarian left (political correctness) but I now find its becoming more and more mainstream, especially as people attach themselves to a particular political party.

What William the Bloody said is right. Religions are conditioning people in a dangerous way. Here in Italy we have the specific case of Vatican: it is an independent State, but it always wants to rule in the Italian territory. Because of the Vatican's influence, abortion is still illegal and gay unions have been approved only a few days ago after many contrasts. And I've always said that Church is the first mafia. With all the money and gold that the Vatican owns, it could feed all the starving people in this world.
Many years ago there was the Democrazia Cristiana (Christian Democracy) which was the political party of the Church. My grandpa was a socialist in those years, and he told me that Democrazia Cristiana highlighted socialists and did its best to keep them under control.

This is why I don't really follow politics anymore (aside from pure laziness). Back when I still cared, I found that trying to remain informed led me to side with one party over the other, even just a little, and I would inevitably treat the other party as the opposition, rather than just people with a different opinion. Eventually this retarded my own ability to think critically because I had become emotionally invested in politics, and emotion is the antithesis of reason.

Politics may be necessary, but I refuse to subvert my brain for the sake of my fellow automatons. Let people who can't help themselves but become involved pick up that torch. I'm done caring about politics to any great extent.
