^ Yes that sounds so simple, so logical, but the actuality is that many people voted for Brexit, but in the ensuing years of political chaos and the crashing pound, they have had second thoughts and would like a chance to reverse their votes.
Democracy, yes, but being chained to a decision you now regret making is a bit like what? Well, it's a bit like some marriages isn't it?

As stupid people are, if politicians want to defer the decision to them, then the results of the plebiscite should be upheld imo. Challenging those results with further referendums is cool too, especially if there's low turnout or something along those lines.

Best model is obviously a revolution though.

No it's not.

As I pointed out a while ago there was a referendum on whether to stay in what is now known as the European Union in 1975 and the people overwhelmingly voted to remain.
