Lol, you need to learn when someone is just taking the piss out of people, I was just being a facetious f)ck, though yes I would rather live in Canada, the States, or anywhere in western Europe than in the mighty Qatar!

Hey but whether your for against the populist revolt, you can't deny their leaders have all got styling blonde hair!!!

Someone needs to tell Milo Yiannopoulos that he looks like Rick Flair!!!

Dutchverdam hair. He looks like he's from centauri prime. Very chic!

Boris may get a Mohawk!

ked has lived here for eight years before she returned to the States for university. We met at uni, got married after we graduated, and returned to Japan. I'd never been here before, but I knew what I was getting into. ked had already to me that we'd be outsiders here forever no matter what. And I was fine with that.

Why?

Because I want to be left alone. I don't want a society or a government to interfere even in the slightest way with my life, my family, and how I raise my children. In Japan, I can create my own culture in my home, within my family and circle of friends. The Japanese system excludes us so much that no one ever asks what's going on in our lives, the education of our children, etc. It's perfect.

The only way I "participate" in society at large is through the payment of my taxes.

So basically all your talk about not worrying about what others think about you is bull****, because it only works if you're an isolationist looking to set up their own little cultural island bubble world within an existing cultural framework that doesn't require your input to continue existing (and which you can exploit for basic resources and services, such as water and subway lines). Anybody else who lives by your standards is going to feel like a freak because they're basically living by the rules of a cult.

You might wanna give people a heads up before you start giving out that kind of advice, cause it could have a lifetime of repercussions! No wonder you feel excluded from your country, cause you're actively excluding them! I wouldn't invite you over for green tea either with that mindset. Jesus Christ!

You see it as bull****. I do not. My advice is sound for anyone. I have cordial relations with my neighbors and my co-workers, and I have profound interactions with my friends here, but I don't look to society at large for affirmation. That's my point.

If you fit in with society at large, you're doing something wrong, in my opinion. Living for the affirmation of strangers? **** that.

But can anyone who hasn't been "initiated" into your lifestyle ever really penetrate into your family group? That sounds like a pretty solid bubble world meant to keep others out and your own in.

All my lifestyle is is "don't tell me what to do or what to think". It's pretty simple. I have like-minded friends who also don't fit in and don't want to. Those who think I should be a cog in the system can **** off.

Nope. My friends who think as I do think as I do only in this one area: non-engagement. In other areas, we hold quite different opinions. For example, none of my friends are Christian.
