Yes, two years is the legally-set deadline for a country extracting itself from the EU; although it's never been done before, it's obviously going to be a complicated process.

DJ, on the other hand seems to be blinded by a malice that he declared quite openly when he joined this thread, ("I want them to suffer.") What's worse is that his malice seems to be motivated by an ignorance about the British voter and the history of British multi-culturalism.

London is rightly known as a cosmopolitan city, and has always been host to migrants from around the world. As DJ is obsessing about Muslims, I'd like to focus on mosques for a minute:-

Woking Mosque:

This charming building was built in 1889, "one of the first mosques in Western Europe." Please notice the absence of heavy security or graffiti. This is not some embattled enclave in a country of racists; it's a pleasant parkland in a tolerant country.

London Central Mosque:
Quote:
It was designed by Sir Frederick Gibberd, completed in 1978, and has a prominent golden dome. The main hall can hold over five thousand worshippers , with women praying on a balcony overlooking the hall.
The Mosque is joined to the Islamic cultural centre which was officially opened by King George VI in 1944. The land was donated by King George VI to the Muslim community of Britain...
So, an enormous tract of land in the very centre of London, worth millions of any currency you care to name, was donated to the Muslim community. Hardly the act of racists.

They just want them damn dirty Muslims out of the county. I don't know why people are trying to sugar coat it. Call a spade a spade, they are ****ing racists.
^ This is a very offensive post in which DJ restates his malice towards my homeland and continues to make unfounded allegations about British voters. He has no idea what is in the mind of the British voter, but without evidence, has decided that they guilty of racism or ignorance. In fact, a leave vote could be for various reasons which he isn't mentioning:-
(i) a desire to be free of standards and restrictions imposed by the EU
(ii) a desire to be free of the perceived cost of EU membership. (UK after all is one of the biggest cash contributing members)
(iii) a desire to decide for themselves how many people are allowed into their country- rather like they do in the USA, I believe. Is that racist too?

DJ says people who want Muslims gone are racists. Okay. So, remind me what "race" Islam is, because I know Muslims from many different races.

Nope, not 51% of the UK is racist but I know for a fact that a certain percentage of 51% are heavily nationalistic and don't want Muslims around because of recent events and the fear mongering of media campaigns that are coming up with stats saying that Muslims are responsible for a high percentage of rape cases and other misinformation.

Did you not read the other posts after I posted that "I want them to suffer" thing? I know it was a bit heavy handed and mean but I didn't really mean it. I just want them to learn their lesson for making what I think is a bad decision.

I know the bolded part without even having to set foot in London. I don't have to set foot in every square inch of the world to know certain things about it. I'm not the one really obsessing about Muslims, British people are the ones doing that with their xenophobia. I know there are alot of Muslims in power that are part of the parliment. The reason I'm tossing around the word about them being racist is just to twist the knife a bit. I don't really think the large majority of British people are racist. It's a buzzword for entertainment. I'm learning too much from Trump.

Yes yes yes I know, refer to points made above.

Those are all valid reasons for an educated voter to make but I'm still believe majority of the leave votes come from xenophobia. It makes perfect sense to believe that with the amount of tragedies that occur related to radical Muslims and people just being tired of Islam overall without learning a single thing about Islam.

Refer to the rest of my post about why I tossed out the word "racist". I also should have said it's more a prejudice issue but I don't even feel like going into that right now. I have to go ATVing my vacation is almost over.

I see no problem with taking some advantage of the situation. Actually it is what the papers here in Sweden are recommending...best time to go shopping in England as the pound is so low at the moment. Or to buy from England. If the shoe was on the other foot and the same thing was happening to my country, I am sure there might be people who would buy from Sweden and the like.

I do see that the vote for the leave seems to have been driven alot by nationalism to the point of isolationism. Perhaps I am wrong in this and those in the UK can better explain why it went the way it did. I do think the latest immigration/refugee taking in figures really drove the vote. Which in the end was still silly as my country and Germany took in a lot more than the UK did. But then that is my point as I rant on my soapbox

Thanks for your support, Roxy and good luck shopping for British products!

OK, dj, I know you apologised for your initial remark, so perhaps I shouldn't have brought it up.
I still feel that you've bought yourself a pot of paint with a specific colour and are determined to paint the British voter with it, evidence or no evidence, but I've always liked you as a poster and would prefer to move on too.
As mordwyr says, I also hope you enjoy ATVing - my disadvantage is that I have no idea what ATVing is. Do you need good weather -or police permission- to do it !?

A pedantic point about statistics:-
Perhaps because the referendum was a simple Yes/No question, everyone, from David Cameron to the media are talking about how "the British people have spoken". In fact, the margin in favor of Leave was pretty small. They had precisely 1,269,501 more votes. If half of that number had chosen to vote for Remain, then the result would've been an exact draw. If we think of it that way, it means that the fate of Britain has actually been decided by about 630 thousand people. That's about the size of a small town, and is a fraction of the electorate, so to everyone I would advise caution about blanket statements about "the Brits this and the Brits that..."

^ BTW, that one on the end can only be Roxy's MB friend, so enjoy your moment of fame and glory!

This is true but I'm not so sure it will happen. Denmark and the Netherlands are too close to the Germansphere.

Immigration was obviously the key factor in this vote, and it was the old working class labour vote that ensured that the Brexit side won.

and although I concede that the UK will now have more control over its borders, Brexit does not mean that mass immigration will end.

Currently you have a labour party controlled by middle & upper class professionals who prescribe to the ideology of multiculturalism who would like to see UK cities transformed into London, and right now they're really pissed off!

Think about it, over 200 plus labour party members campaigned for the UK to stay within Brexit and the traditional working class vote just gave them the biggiest Fu(k you on the planet! Never has there been a bigger political disconnect between a political party and its voters.

One things for sure, the Blairites are going to be out for blood, and they aren't going to rest until they have Jeremy Corbyn's head on a platter.
