What'd make a better (by which I mean more popular/viral) video?

"PC College Kids Deny Speaker Free Speech" wherein it shows people shouting and a speaker either trying to wait it out or talk over them.

"Discussion on Race" wherein conservative and liberal arguments are both brought up and/or refuted through somewhat heated discussion.

It's obviously the first one, even though the second on could be more prevalent. Beware of sensationalism and misguided senses of victimization.

I'd love to see the second of those two to be frank with you. We don't get that on a ****ing forum board how can you expect to see it on ****ing you-tube. But I forgot you go to the only college there is in California. Just because it's not at your school doesn't mean it's not happening in other states and other countries.

Exactly. On that same line of logic, just because this type of thing happens at a few campuses doesn't mean that it's a war or epidemic, as so many love to frame it as. Remember guys, the media loves conflict and salivate at the thought of it.

I can agree with you there the media does love a good fist fight, metaphorically and litterally. But why do we as a culture respond to it is a better question. Because to someone on either side of the coin, what ever coin it is that is being tossed the situation is very real.

Everybody has a voice now with social media and credibility is becoming more democratic in the fields of public opinion. It makes it possible for the media reporting on, popularizing, and propagating one out of touch person as if they were already a respected intellectual figure. This is one reason why I would protest someone coming to my school and speaking (though I'm not saying I agree or disagree with the viewpoints of anybody who's been protested at a college). Yes, everybody has the right to freedom of speech, but not everybody has the right to a large platform for their speech because ideas aren't inherently valid. Say that popular science hating, pseudoscience loving Food Babe came to my school with her brand of charlatanism, I'd say that that she shouldn't be allowed to profit off of misinformation. As I mentioned earlier, everyone has access to worldwide platforms now in the form of social media.

So not every idea is special enough to be blathered at into a crowd and speakers and audiences alike need to be prepared for the fact that they might be an idiot.

I don't think they can. I can't speak for you or DJ but I'm gonna assume you didn't grow up in the high crime areas of this country. My opinion, based solely on anecdotal evidence, is that crime/gang violence is so embedded in those inner city communities that changing the people or freeing them from "oppression" is not something they want. Gang life is legitimately glorified...

You would need a MIRACLE to change their minds as a whole, or enforce the most ridiculous of laws (even if intentions were pure and trying to make it a "better place"). You can't force people to change according some standard created by outsiders. If a community has a problem with its' social-ethics than it will change on its' own.. Look at black, women, and gay rights throughout American history.

This is not to say we shouldn't try to help those who want it, but I doubt anything will change until there are more of the people who want/need help than there are gangbangers and drug dealers corrupting the youth before they have a chance.

I can tell you last Friday I spent my morning exsplaing amendments 1-10 too 5 or 6 gang bangers... And you would be surprised the thirst for knowledge is there brother.It really is. Its a matter of finding a way to correctly communicate your ideas to whatever group you are talking too... And freeing yourself from your opression starts with the self realization that you are oppressed first.

Edit: Its not as hard as you think to start unlocking minds...All you have to do is smile, and really listen to people and their thoughts and opinions in earnest and start a dialogue.
