Santa, that stupid fucking Elf thing, and a bunch of other Christmas nonsense are all paranoia inducing mechanisms that are targeted for children, and usually come with resentment and anger in the later stages. Some pretty fucked up ideals that got intertwined into the origin of what Christmas is supposed to be.
