You're not a moderator so, yeah, you can ignore whatever you want. Moderators, however, are supposed to pay attention to things and act when rules are being broken. That's the job they volunteer to do, a job which benefits you in many ways that you don't even see. And, yes, it's an unpaid job that kind of sucks to be honest. It sucks even more because people with very little frame of reference berate those those doing it no matter what they do. Your last sentence is a perfect example: name calling and judgement over an issue you don't understand the context or history of at all.

If you honestly banned him because he kind of goaded you about it then I formally retract any and all things I have said about how it was stupid. I also have to admit this is mostly due to the fact that in my 8 hour shift I had 30 minutes of work to do and finished my book an hour in so... I got pretty bored.
