Don't know enough about Alabama to say but I think I get the point and I would say maybe yes.

Some of them have 'British' names as many are descended from English and Scottish. My granddad is from Belfast, no English parents or grandparents but has an English surname. I thought Pengelly was Welsh but I looked it up and it seems to be Cornish.
