Just to bump the thread, this has been posted on my FB page and some back east friends and family members are jumping on the train. Pretty f0cking embarrassing to be honest.

I'm seriously embarrassed and trying hard to hold back from posting. Damn.

You can't teach tolerance. It has to be learned. Some people just miss the boat.

I don't think you should judge him to harshly. Sometimes it's not what a person says but why they say it. I think he would not flipped out and said those things if those marines were not murdered. And who knows, in this day and age he could be reprimanded for venting like that on social media. So no need to get upset over that.

One thing I hate about these incidents is the victims are forgotten, because in the debates taht follow everything else becomes the focus of attention. Maybe that is how conversations branch off into off topic issues. But still I think that stuff should be ignored and the main concern should be for the Marines and Navy sailor.

If there is anything one can take away from this story it should be how U.S. Navy Petty Officer Randall Smith warned people to get away before he was shot. That the last thing he did (before he died of gun shot wounds) was show concern for others.

I don't understand why it matters that they were Marines.

you don't think it matters who the target of an attack is?
