as for your definition... i would say that seems to sum up how some people see me, based on their comments.. i try to combat that image to some extent by compromising or clarifying here and there because clearly i care what people think. i never claimed not to. example: when i said ***got and people freaked out... i compromised by agreeing not to use that word anymore (except in reference to the word itself). even though i honestly don't see much wrong with using it in the way i used it. and most of the people i know irl see it more the way i see it than the way you guys see it. but i compromised to appease people anyway. if what i wanted to do was offend you guys then i would just keep saying that word and try to act as homophobic as possible. instead i say things that i would think are so clearly over the top and silly that you should know i am not being serious about it... like jews/illuminati/change the country's flag to the confed battle flag/whatever... cause that's my humor. you might say "we dont like your humor" alright you don't like my humor that doesn't mean i'm trying to offend you. like i said i thought this thread was pretty tame |

for the most part i was just trying to explain how southerners see the flag or think about it, not saying i think it should fly over state buildings. cause honestly this stuff is all i seem to hear about anymore irl. people in the south are really worked up about the media campaign against the confed flag... they even had "protest" at the local mall parking lot here... and i've never seen these people protest anything before. the protest consisted mostly of fat rednecks driving around in a caravan sort of group with rebel flags and american flags mounted on either side of their trucks i even had a person at work today tell me he thinks this entire incident was a covert op by the american govt just to attack southern heritage etc so i was trying to convey the mindset of a lot of these people to you people who aren't from the south, cause i know if i didn't live here i wouldn't know what the hell these people think... they have really distorted views imo |

sure thing
to get back on topic... had a conversation with a coworker at lunch and we were sort of arguing over the civil war.. in a light hearted way. but i was trying to convince him that slavery was the basis of the south wanting to secede... he wasn't buying it for a second though and neither was anyone else... and he told me that freed black slaves had also volunteered to fight for the confederacy. it's literally impossible for me to even question this kind of thing in a polite way. the only thing i can think to say to that is that it sounds ****in stupid lol. why they hell would a freed slave come volunteer to fight for the confederacy? |
