I did not know that. I assumed that people attended rallies because they were excited by the event,
but apparently all of these people went to them kinda bored and expecting to be lectured, eh?
Am I breaking/fulfilling Godwin's Law by posting this?

There are passionate people there, definitely, but that doesn't negate the point that there are mindless Sanders fans. And I brought in the Asch experiment as a point to show that since conformity seeps into something as straightforward as the length of a line, it can find its way into someone's political opinion.

Ja that point is most definitely true, but assuming that all Sanders supporters are there because it reflects their own opinions is as fallacious as assuming that they're all sheep. I'm just saying that there are definitely some sheep in the flock, even if I happen to agree with the guy who they like.

How you can't understand that people are influenced by those around them, just because we're talking about someone you're a fanboy for, I'll never know.

As for "mindless Sanders fans": there are mindless peanut butter fans,
mindless Nigerian singers, mindless lovers of bluejays, mindless lovers of acrylic desktops, ...

so? whose denying that?
My original point was that people being excited for a candidate at a rally means nothing about the quality of the candidate. I think I'm still on topic.

Sensible implies quality, right?

I can't keep up with all this so very quickly I'll say: Frownie, either you missed my meaning or my gif was inadequate (they usually are), Batty, I don't really give a rubbery fuck what you think of me.

I'm saying that looking at a group of excited people at a rally for
their preferred candidate (Trump, Cruz, Clinton, Sanders...) is not
necessarily "mass hysteria." It just might be their joy for the candidate
that they think is their sensible choice. Like I said, "it's possible, you know?"
This was followed by the even more misanthropic statement that,
well, you know, those "people are just sheep" and so that's why
they're all excited - cause, you know, [put your favorite candidate's name here]
supporters couldn't possibly get excited of their own volition. Heavens!
Calling my point misanthropic disproves nothing. I don't know what logical fallacy that is, but I'm sure it has a name. You simply can't get more than a certain number of people all in the same room and have them still be a collection of objective free-thinkers. Political rallies are nothing more than mobs with a specifically chosen ringleader.
