Chula
What I'm saying is that they're totally playing a race card putting it out there like you have to submit to this interruption or you're a racist. All their empowerment in that situation stems from their supposed blackness. I feel like the most crippling thing you can say to them is they're not even black. They're white. They're officially a part of the official power structure. They're the oppressors. They're the privileged. They don't get a say. It's not their struggle. Didn't you see their skin tone? They're not black. Let the real black people lead the movement. Go back to the white mother who raised you and quit pretending to have any kinship with the black father you never even met. |

So only true black people can lead political movements for black equality?

Ya. Wow. Where the **** did that come from. There's racism and then there's racist. You just staked your claim.

I don't care. If I took the trouble to go to an event of any kind, political rally, book signing, poetry reading, comedy act, concert, whatever, and someone or some group I wasn't interested in tried to hijack the event that I'm there to see they will find in me the nastiest, most offensive, most aggressive adversary in the crowd. I will shock them. I wouldn't just go with the predictable N-Bomb. I would go for the jugular in a way that would freak their ****. I don't really know who raised them. I don't care. I know there's a decent chance I'm right so that's the card I want to play. You want to go to war? I'll take you to war. |

you seem to have a thuggish mentality to me... you remind me of some friends i have/had in florida. one time one of my friends was at the movie theatre with his brother, and some guy was looking at them a certain way. and having the kind of mentality he does, he went up and confronted the guy like "the **** you looking at." and the guy pulled up his shirt, revealing a pistol tucked in his jeans and a gang tatoo. my friend was lucky this is all he did. he told me this story and expected that i would side with him, having been disrespected/whatever that he was just trying to hold his head high. i told him he was an idiot who almost got himself shot over some bull****. literally just the perception of having been disrespected. not that i'm comparing this situation directly, just expressing the uselessness of needlessly escalating a conflict. |

No, that's not racism. That's being careful with a sensitive situation and being aware of how things might be perceived because of the presence of racism (between both the activists and the culture they're responding to).
