I mean, actually fighting against Hitler, like personally liberating concentration camps and whatever, is pretty different from thinking to yourself "Hey, maybe it's wrong to kill the Jews." The latter is a much better analogy. Speaking as someone who's bi, it's great that you support marriage equality, and of course I'd like you to continue to support marriage equality, but you are not owed gratitude by every single gay person in the world just because you, at least to some degree, believe in basic human rights. And if you'd say "I'm done with believing in gay rights if I am not constantly told how great I am," then I don't think you ever really supported gay rights in the first place.

To be clear: I don't think for a second that you'd actually stop believing in equality if you weren't patted on the back for that belief, but I do think that that's the logical conclusion of your position.

I don't believe in gay rights, black rights, women rights.. I believe in human rights.

and can you tell me how liberating concentration camps is different from a straight person going to LGBTQ+ rallies and events to support them? Straight people have actively made changes and put in work to get the LGBTQ+ community the rights they deserve and you're trying to tell me they deserve less credit than gay people because they aren't gay?

I didn't know you were cisgender, I don't know you all that well. I thought I remembered you saying something to the contrary in another discussion. Sorry.

Also, I'm not asking for credit. I didn't do any of those things or fight to bring about change for you in any meaningful way. I said the straight people WHO HAVE deserve equal credit, that was my only point.

It's not about credit. It's about suffering. That's my entire point. All I wanted was for straight people to stop needlessly referencing homophobia in a thread that was supposed to be celebratory, because they haven't suffered in that context and it's not their place to perpetuate anti-gay commentary in such a context. And in return I was told that I'm ungrateful, straight-hating, and suffering from dementia.
