From what admittedly little I know of it, it seems the Dems were too arrogant, assuming they had it in the bag. It's kind of like the football team from the third division who thinks they have no hope against the Premier League guys (Americanise this however you wish) and the PL team don't even train, go on holidays, sleep till noon then turn up expecting to yawn their way through a 6-0 victory, and are taken apart by the minnows in a "dramatic upset that nobody could see coming!"
Yeah well, if you don't even try, then you don't deserve to win, and I think a lot of people saw zero effort from the Brutal Overlord Clin-Ton, so decided **** you I'll vote for Trump, who, whatever you think of him, was campaigning all the hours Satan sends, and everywhere he could, esp traditional Dem states and cities. One of the reasons why there were so many upsets, no?

![]() Election 2016 - Live Results - President Map It's fairly obvious that Clinton relied on people to vote instead of getting out and ensuring people will vote, hence why Trump gained so many states, and even some previously blue states. |
