Participating in comedy skits/late night interviews doesn't detract from all the serious things that they do on a daily basis as part of their job.
Yes, it does. It makes a mockery of the political system or at the very least it takes away from the seriousness of it. The Seinfeld thing was okay, interviews, sure.. but that skit or whatever about his anger, I'll pass. It's like the mom that wants to be your friend first, tbh.

He's not an entertainer, he's the president of our country.

I'm with DWV on that one.

Let me add some context. The anger dude is Keegan Michael Key, one half of Key and Peele. They've been doing the angry Obama thing as a regular skit for years prior to that White House correspondents dinner.

NSFW

So Obama bringing "Luther" out during his speech was more than appropriate during an event where he is supposed to be funny. The correspondents dinner is an annual event where the president gets to poke fun at the press and all of his detractors.

I'm a fan of key and peeled, but frankly the anger translator isn't that great of a sketch.

I'll check that dictionary, but in the meantime I'm impressed - as is everyone else in the world - by your eloquence, obvious accomplishments and success, and the evidence of your blazingly high intelligence.

Not really the point. The people in the audience attending that night were laughing. That bit went over great and really highlighted Obama's ability to poke fun at himself.

Oh, yeah. I'm not dissing Obama for it. I think it's great he did it. I mean, I can go on and on about why I don't like Obama but the guy is serious when he needs to be.
