Yea I understand thats what they say. However Im a legal gun owner and if the come a knocking with a black bag for my head....shots will be fired. End of it. Id rather spend 2 minutes in a gun battle where I loose but stood for something than die a slave to an elite run police state....

This post has probably put me on a no fly /no buy list. Oh well....

But the President is Commander in Chief of the armed forces, so they would still need government approval. And I don't know if martial law requires approval of Congress, but I have to imagine it would.

Edit: Just checked, and yeah, martial law would require congressional approval.

Nope.

Martial law is the imposition of the highest-ranking military officer as the military governor or as the head of the government, thus removing all power from the previous executive, legislative, and judicial branches of government. It is usually imposed temporarily when the government or civilian authorities fail to function effectively (e.g., maintain order and security, or provide essential services).

The martial law concept in the United States is closely tied with the right of habeas corpus, which is in essence the right to a hearing on lawful imprisonment, or more broadly, the supervision of law enforcement by the judiciary. The ability to suspend habeas corpus is often equated with martial law.[citation needed] Article 1, Section 9 of the US Constitution states, "The Privilege of the Writ of Habeas Corpus shall not be suspended, unless when in Cases of Rebellion or Invasion the public Safety may require it."

In United States law, martial law is limited by several court decisions that were handed down between the American Civil War and World War II. In 1878, Congress passed the Posse Comitatus Act, which forbids military involvement in domestic law enforcement without congressional approval.

Okay, so I've been out of the political loop to a large degree, so I was actually unaware of Hillary Clinton's support for no-fly zones in Syria. WTF?! The Russians are currently bombing targets in Syria, and have ignored our calls for them to stop, and we're going to declare a no-fly zone? Is there something I'm also unaware of that makes this not a dumb idea?

What happens if we declare a no-fly zone and Russia keeps bombing rebels? Do we shoot down Russian planes? Do we kill Russians? **** is already awkward between America and Russia as it is, but this sounds like a step below what McCain was proposing with intervening in Ukraine. I personally do not want to take that one step closer to war with Russia.

So can anyone tell me why I am hopefully woefully misinformed? Cause otherwise I'm gonna have to start taking a serious look at... Donald ****ing Trump.

She could be testing the water with Putin. I seriously doubt we would start shooting down Ruskis given how sheepish we've been so far.

I know, but still, no-fly zones over Syria? If we do enforce them, we shoot down Russians, cause I don't see Putin backing down just cause "we really mean it!" If we don't, Putin makes us look like bitches. Or maybe this is all part of some Byzantine negotiation tactic with Putin. Whatever the case, this just makes me not trust Clinton in a way that makes me not trust her with my country (I already didn't trust her in general).
