I am personally against the death penalty, because I believe it's a waste of tax payers money and of human life. I'd rather lock him up in a labor prison cleaning roads or something useful to society for the rest of his life.

The alternative of a lifetime in prison would have costed a lot more taxpayer money

Perhaps, but if he's keeping the highways clean, stamping screws or something similar, doesn't society benefit? And don't even get me STARTED on quality of living inside some prisons.
